Mandan, North Dakota – Standing Rock Sioux Tribe
Holly Doll is an enrolled citizen of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and resides in her home state of North Dakota. In addition to being an artist who specializes in Lakota cultural art, Holly brings over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, specializing in designing equity-based initiatives and collaborative projects. Holly started off her career by managing a Native American gallery, later co-founding and serving as President of Native Artists United, an artist cooperative dedicated to supporting Native American artists. She was then invited to join the Waterers, a collective of arts, cultural, and community leaders who are committed to transforming traditional philanthropy by centering trust and cultural values in grantmaking efforts.
She is a Program Manager with Arts Midwest, where she collaborates with the other USRAOs to co-design national grantmaking initiatives and deepen relationships with Native Nations in the Midwest region. She also is a Program Director with the Department of Public Transformation, where she oversees Ignite Rural, an artist residency program designed to support emerging, rural BIPOC artists. With a deep commitment to community-level impact and direct support for artists, Holly integrates her cultural values into her work, while intentionally moving at the speed of trust.
When she’s not immersed in her professional pursuits, Holly enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their cats in North Dakota, as well as playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends.
